Camanche Elementary classrooms will have their Valentine’s Day parties tomorrow, February 10th. When sending in Valentines please make sure they do not have any food or candy attached. We encourage nonfood items such as pencils, stickers, or erasers. Please contact CES if you have any questions.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to our school Sumdog team! The team earned first place out of 29 teams in the Winter Sumdog contest. Lakin Springer earned first place out of 368 participants! Landon Green earned second place. Addi Totten was in third. Luke Gravert was fourth. Owen Steines was fifth. Hattie Noble, Elyna Clements, Greta Thomson, and Kennedy Schwandt finished in the top 10! The students had to complete 1000 math problems for the competition. The math problems were at the students’ math level according to a diagnostic test they took before the competition so some of the students were completing math problems beyond their grade level. We are so proud of the dedication and determination shown by the members of the CES Winter Sumdog math team. The teams are coached by Sheryl Kennedy.

FROM MRS. MUNSON
Strong work ethic is another important life skill to teach our children. Empower your child to take a growth mindset approach to any task they are faced with. Believing that they can do the work and then persevering to accomplish the goal is beneficial to their success at school and in life. Talk with your child about the phrase “I can try; I can start; I can finish”. Remind them of a time when they were challenged with a task. Maybe it was cleaning their room, making a lego creation, or helping someone. Praise them for believing they could, creating a plan, working hard, and finishing the work! There are many great articles on teaching children good work ethic, here is just one if you would like additional information: https://www.therealisticmama.com/teach-kids-good-work-ethic/
Here are a few books to read with your student this week:
· Planning Isn’t My Priority by Julia Cook
· Time to Get Started by Bryan Smith
· The Koala Who Could by Rachel Bright
· Winnie the Pooh Give It Your All by John Whitman
