The Camanche School District’s Board of Education met on Monday, January 16th.  Please note that these are not the official minutes.  The official Agendas and Minutes from the Camanche Community School District school board are available and posted on our school district website (camanche.k12.ia.us). 

Items to highlight from this school board meeting would include: 

  • The Board set their Special Quarterly Meeting for Monday, January 30th at 5:30 p.m.  Superintendent Parker recommended that the primary topic be Iowa school finances and how they apply to the Camanche School District as we begin work in preparing the FY24 budget.
  •  Business Director Aude informed the school board that the BusRight app is now available and functioning for parents of students who ride our buses.  These parents have been invited to download this app onto their technology devices.  This program allows parents to receive real-time updates regarding the location of the bus their child is riding on.
  • Superintendent Parker and Business Director Aude informed the Board that they had met with Municipal Collections of America (MCOA) regarding unpaid fees/fines by some of the District’s families and to gain information about how the Iowa Offset Program works when applied to these situations.  A more formal presentation from MCOA will be scheduled during the regular February school board meeting.
  • Principals Dohse and Shaffer provided the Board with updates regarding topics of interest that included many of the positive achievements of the school district’s students and staff.
  •  A representative from Estes Construction, the district’s construction manager, provided the school board with an update about the ongoing Facilities Enhancement Project.
  • The school board approved Change Orders for the Facility Enhancement Project.
  • Superintendent Parker formally notified the Board that he will present his recommendation for the 2023-24 Staffing Plan and the Budget Estimate and the March 20, 2023 meeting. 

As is usually the case, the school board completed the meeting by approving administrative recommendations regarding personnel.
