NO SCHOOL FEBRUARY 18TH – PRESIDENT’S DAY

            There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 18th in observance of President’s Day.

 

CLASSROOM PARTIES – TOMORROW!

            We will be having our classroom parties on Friday, February 15th from 2:30-3:00. Please follow the guidelines from the Healthy Kids Act. A list of approved snacks is available on our school website. Due to food allergies, any items that do not come pre-packaged will be sent back home with the family that brought them. Thank you for keeping our students safe!

 

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

            We’ve officially started our annual Kids Heart Challenge to support the American Heart Association. Our event will run February 13-27.  Be sure to register online and take the heart challenge and be part of this great event. You can send ecards, email and add a link to your Facebook page. It’s really easy! 2nd ANNUAL FAMILY READING NIGHT

            Camanche Elementary is hosting the 2nd Annual Family Reading Night on Thursday, February 28th from 6:30-8:00 p.m.! There are more than 10 sessions of reading and activities planned for families to enjoy for FREE! Join us for a wonderful night for families to come and participate in reading-related learning adventures! ALL families MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED by Friday, February 22nd to attend!  Please see the attached session descriptions and pre-registration forms. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

            For an added treat, Camanche’s own Little Twirlers will entertain Reading Night families in the gym at 6:20 p.m. for a pre-event show! Come see them perform a routine before you attend your first session at 6:30 p.m.

 

SUMDOG MATH CONTEST

            Friday is the first day of the Eastern Iowa Sumdog contest. There are more than 60 teams participating in this contest. Our school has 3 teams and we wish them all good luck!

Members of the Camanche Blue team are: Easton Steffes, Josie Srp, Presley Rumler, Vinnie Srp, Chloe Toler, Grace Dorsey, Jenna Dunlap, Archer Kelly, Adrien Kane, Bobby Hundley, Owen Thomson, and Wyatt Ohsann.

            Members of the Camanche Red team are: Jayda Clements, Jeremy Overberg, Bobby Evers, Cailee Sullivan, Caleb Graham, Ben Burken, Beau Bigwood, Drew Graves, Reid Jacobs, Toni Ebensberger, and Grace Alderman.

            Members of the Camanche White team are: Cooper Beasinger, Elliot Boonstra, Miranda Tucker, Olivia Steines, Mason Hilgendorf, Cameron Shaffer, Brayden Phillips, Olivia Harridge, and Kady Dunnett.

            Each of the Sumdog team members need to complete 1000 math problems in one week. We wish our participants well!


KINDERGARTEN ROUND UP – NEXT WEEK!

            Kindergarten Round Up will be held on Thursday, February 21st from 5:00-6:00PM & Friday, February 22nd from 8:30-9:30AM & 10:00-11:00AM.  If you have a child that will turn 5 years old on or before September 15, 2019, please call our office to add them to our Round Up list.  We can’t wait to meet all of our future kindergartners!

 

FROM THE K-8 LIBRARIAN – CHECK THIS OUT!

            Our Scholastic Book Fair is right around the corner! We will host the book fair in our Elementary Media Center during our spring conferences (1:30-7:00pm) on Wednesday, March 6th and Thursday, March 7th. Watch for flyers to be sent home earlier that week for information on how you can order from home and have your order sent directly to school where we will deliver to your children. We can’t wait to see all of you, and watch the students’ faces light up with the prospect of buying books of their own!

 

CES READING GOAL

            As a school we have set a goal of 98,500 minutes in the month of February. So far, our school has read 12,034 minutes.  We will celebrate if/when we reach our goal. Thank you for helping support this work!

 

ATTENDANCE

            If your student is going to be absent, will arrive late, or needs to leave early, please make sure to call the main office no later than 9 a.m. on the day of the absence, tardy or early dismissal.

Our attendance is currently 96.46%. We as a school have set a goal of 97%. Thank you for working with us to reach that goal, EVERY DAY matters.
