PTA NEWS

We are excited to announce the first field trip fundraiser night will be at Saint Giuseppe’s on Thursday, September 29th! They will be donating a portion of the evening’s sales to our field trip fund. Last year, we were able to send our students to the Bettendorf Family Museum, Circa 21, The Sawmill Museum, The Putnam Museum, and the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. Thank you to the sponsors, our awesome families, and community for helping provide these experiences to our students!! You can contact the PTA through the Camanche Elementary PTA Facebook page or stormpta@yahoo.com.

FROM MRS. MUNSON

We have really focused on being problem solvers and spreading kindness in our classroom lessons. An important aspect of solving conflicts with others is to approach it calmly and have empathy. This week talk with your student about: “If we can’t see eye to eye, let’s try heart to heart”. We may not always see eye to eye and agree, but we can always show empathy and respect. Showing others kindness and compassion improves our quality of life at home, school, work, and in the community. It brings people together, no matter their differences. Doing good for others feels good. Showing kindness to others is just as rewarding as receiving it from someone else. Don’t forget if you catch your student(s) doing a random act of kindness, send me a Dojo message to have their name added on a heart for our CES Kindness Tree!

Here are a few books you can read with your student(s) on kindness:

·       Those Shoes, by Maribeth Boelts

·      You, Me, and Empathy, by Jayneen Sanders

·      The Invisible Boy, by Patrice Barton

·      Each Kindness, by Jacqueline Woodson

·      Empathy is My Superpower! By Bryan Smith
