LUNCH VISITORS

Adult guests are welcome to come to school and eat lunch with their students. We have just a couple of rules that must be followed for guest lunches:

1.       Please call the school before 8:30 a.m. on the day that you would like to have lunch with your student. Our lunches are prepared at the middle school and we must order the number of hot lunches necessary each day. You are also welcome to bring a cold lunch from home.

2.     Only people listed as a contact in JMC can join a student for lunch. If you would like to change the contacts please do so with the office.

3.     All guests MUST bring a driver’s license to the office and get a visitor’s pass before going to the cafeteria.

PTA NEWS

Welcome back everyone! We are excited for the 2022-2023 school year. Meetings are on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, September 13th at 6 p.m. in the CES cafeteria. We would love to see you there! We are excited to announce the first field trip fundraiser night will be at Saint Giuseppe’s on Thursday, September 29th! They will be donating a portion of the evening’s sales to our field trip fund. Last year, we were able to send our students to the Bettendorf Family Museum, Circa 21, The Sawmill Museum, The Putnam Museum, and the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. Thank you to the sponsors, our awesome families, and community for helping provide these experiences to our students!! You can contact the PTA through the Camanche Elementary PTA Facebook page or stormpta@yahoo.com. We look forward to seeing what the 2022-2023 school year brings to our CES students! Go STORM!

DROP-OFF & PICK-UPS

Please remember that 6th Avenue, located on the west side of the playground, is treated as a ONE-WAY every morning and afternoon to accommodate the traffic flow of parents dropping off and picking up students.

NEWSLETTERS & MENUS ARE ONLINE

In an effort to be environmentally friendly, we will no longer print off weekly newsletters, but post them electronically instead.  Please make sure we have the correct email on file for you, as that is how we will send the newsletters each week.  They will also be posted on our Facebook page, and on our district website.

We will also send our breakfast and lunch menus electronically.  They will be emailed, be posted on our school Facebook page, and are available on our district website at: https://camanche.nutrislice.com/menu

MUSIC NOTES

All Camanche Elementary Families: Please see that your child wears their gym shoes on the days they have music class. If you have any questions or concerns, I can be contacted through the school, class dojo, or by email at: jmeyer@camanchecsd.org.

Thank you! - Miss Jen, Music Teacher

GYM SHOES

Mr. Peppers would like to remind all our families that gym shoes are required for his students to participate in PE class.  Please see that your child wears their gym shoes on the days they have PE.  You are also welcome to leave a pair of gym shoes at school so that your student is always prepared J

With that in mind, if you happen to have any used shoes that are in good condition, and you are willing to donate to his program, Mr. Peppers would be happy to take them off your hands to share with students that forget to wear their gym shoes to his class.

FROM MRS. MUNSON

This week as students continue to learn about big deals and little deals, take the time to discuss with them: “tattling is getting someone in trouble, reporting is getting someone out of trouble”. We use the Big Deals and Little Deals Book by Kim Edmister to help us to decide if we need to tell an adult about a situation. If someone is getting hurt, something is dangerous, or making them worried or afraid, it is a big deal and kids should report it to an adult. A good way to remember the difference is tattling is trying to get someone in trouble, reporting is getting someone out of trouble.

Here are a few books you can read with your student(s) on tattling:

·       Don’t Squeal Unless It’s a Big Deal, by Jeanie Franz Ransom

·       A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue, by Julia Cook

·       Miles McHale Tattletale, by Christianne Jones

Check out this great article that provides insight to why children tattle and how we can help teach appropriate problem solving skills: http://www.kellybear.com/TeacherArticles/TeacherTip63.html

Sincerely, Mrs. Munson
