Camanche School Board

The Camanche School District’s Board of Education met on Monday, July 18thPlease note that these are not the official minutes.  The official Agendas and Minutes from the Camanche Community School District school board are available and posted on our school district website (camanche.k12.ia.us). 

Items to highlight from this school board meeting would include: 

  •  The Board is planning to tour the district before their August 15th meeting to see the summer projects completed in each building and to see the progress made over the summer with the Facilities Enhancement Project.
  • The Board approved using ESSER funds to provide $500 in retention pay for Classified Staff and Administrative Staff who worked during the 2021-2022 school year and who continue to work for the 2022-2023 school year.
  • Superintendent Parker gave the Board his Annual Report regarding the just completed school year.  There were many positive occurrences with some challenges that made for an interesting, yet very successful school year.  Everyone is looking forward to keeping the positive momentum going for the 2022-2023 school year!
  • Business Director Aude informed the Board that registration for students for the upcoming school year is currently ongoing.  Online registration is open through August 1st.
  • The Board discussed updates regarding dress code being proposed for the student handbooks.  The Board voted 4-3 to not adopt the proposed changes and requested that the administration prepare new options for the dress code for the August meeting.
  • The Board approved renewing a sharing agreement for the Partnership School Consortium which provides a structured setting for students needing additional support.  This is a cooperative venture involving AEA 9 and several local school districts with the Central DeWitt School District being the host district. 
  • The Board approved renewing the agreement with Eastern Iowa Community Colleges to provide college credit courses for Camanche High School students.
  • The Board discussed and approved submitting their four Legislative Priorities and Resolutions to the Iowa Association of School Boards.  The four priorities selected were Dropout/At-Risk Student Support;  Mental Health Support; Teacher Recruitment and Licensure; and School Funding Policy.  A more complete description of these priorities can be found in the school board’s official minutes.
  •  The Board approved allowing Camanche Days to use school grounds for several of their activities during this event.
  • The Board held a discussion regarding scheduling quarterly work session meetings.  It was determined that there is interest in scheduling these meetings after the start of the school year.

As is usually the case, the school board completed the meeting by approving administrative recommendations regarding personnel.
