Congratulations to the preschool teachers, first grade teachers, and Sheryl Kennedy! Their application for the WaterWorks: Engineering and Investigating the Properties of Water was selected by the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council for funding for the 2022-2023 school year. This program will offer one more hands-on science learning opportunity for our CES students.

Children who will turn 4 on or before September 15th qualify for FREE preschool. Enrollment forms are now being mailed out and accepted at CES for preschool for the 2022-2023 school year. Please call us at 563-259-3016 to get your student’s name added to our list for next school year!

These are short, casual, grade level, “informances” held in our gym. I am excited these are back, and the kids are excited to share with you what music class day to day looks like and, “inform you” what they have learned. Here is the schedule:

Kindergarten - Tuesday, May 3rd – 6:00 p.m.

First Grade – Tuesday, May 3rd – 6:45 p.m.

Second Grade – Thursday, May 5th – 6:00 p.m.

Third Grade – Thursday, May 5th – 6:45 p.m.

Fourth Grade – Tuesday, May 10th – 6:00 p.m.

Plan on arriving only about 10 minutes before we begin. (We will start promptly.) You will come into the school by the gym.

More details coming – and information will be on Class Dojo as well. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.                                  Thank you! – Miss Jen (jmeyer@camanchecsd.org)

This week discuss with your student: “I will focus on the things I can control”. Focusing on things that are outside of your control can leave you feeling anxious and overwhelmed. Helping students focus on things they can control empowers them to take responsibility for their own actions. This is important for academic success and social-emotional well-being. If your child(ren) is experiencing overwhelming of out of control feelings, help your child(ren) focus on five things they can control right now in the moment (like a grounding activity). Have them use their fingers to count. For example:

1.       I can control my breathing.

2.     I can control my thoughts.

3.     I can control my self-talk.

4.     I can control what I say.

5.     I can control my body.
