NO SCHOOL FEBRUARY 21st – PRESIDENT’S DAY

There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 21st in observance of President’s Day.

2/22/22

Hello CES families! On Tuesday, 2/22/22, we thought it would be a great day to have a little extra fun in the building. We are planning on having a tie-dye and tutu’s Tuesday. I hope our students have fun dressing up on this Two-rrific Tuesday!

GOOD LUCK LEGO LEAGUE

Good luck to the Cargo Kids, our school’s 4th grade Lego League team. They qualified for the state level of the Global Innovation Award. Their contest is this Saturday. This award recognizes teams with an innovative solution to the real world challenge for the current season. Members of the Cargo Kids are Harper Bagg, Addy Coffey, Emery Davis, Sophia Johnson, Lily Laurion, Sophia Morrow, Lawson Sullivan, and Carsten Toler. They are coached by Sheryl Kennedy.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES

Parent/Teacher Conferences are right around the corner! Conferences will be held on Wednesday, March 2nd and Thursday March 3rd from 1:30-7:15 p.m. A notice indicating the time and place of your child’s conference has been sent home. Please return this notice as soon as possible to confirm your conference time. Report cards will be sent home with students the day before conferences.

DUE TO CONFERENCES, WE WILL BE HAVING AN EARLY DISMISSAL AT 1:08/1:15 ON BOTH DAYS.

Our 3rd and 4th grade students will be leading their conferences again. They are preparing for this opportunity over the next few weeks. The students will share their strengths and areas that need growth. They are also setting goals for themselves in each class. This gives our students opportunities to engage in their growth and play an active role in planning for their own learning.

GOOD LUCK SUMDOG TEAM

Good luck to the members of our school Sumdog math team.  These students have volunteered to answer 1000 math problems in one week in the Mississippi Bend Sumdog Math contest. They will be competing against other students throughout eastern Iowa.  Third grade members of our school Sumdog team are:  Katelynn Burken, Marley Fuller, Cody Gravert, Luke Gravert, Landon Green, Hayleigh Lorenzen, Gabby Sampson, Lakin Springer, and Addi Totten. The Sumdog team members in fourth grade are: Harper Bagg, Zoe Cinadr, Addison Coffey, Emery Davis, Sophia Johnson, Lily Laurion, Sophia Marrow, Carsten Toler, and Kade Varner.

FROM MRS. MUNSON

This week talk with your student about what it means to: “use my skills and strengths to make my school and community a better place”. Everyone has skills and strengths; the things you can be proud of and enjoy doing. When you use your strengths it can give you energy and help boost your sense of well-being. You can also get the same benefits when you help others. People who volunteer their time and talents feel more socially connected and can even experience better physical health! When you combine your skills and strengths with giving back, you’ve got a powerful combination to make a difference in the community. Brainstorm ways you and your student can use your skills and strengths to give back to the school and community. Here are some ideas: https://www.livehappy.com/giving/17-ways-to-give-back-according-to-your-strengths

Thank you,

Mrs. Munson
