SCHOOL PICTURE DAY
Lifetouch will be here next Monday, October 4th to take our fall pictures. Picture order forms were sent home today. If you place your order online at mylifetouch.com, there is no need to return the order form to school. To pay by cash or check, please complete the order form and return to school tomorrow or Monday. Late orders cannot be accepted at school. You can continue to order online after picture day.
Please remember to send your student to school with a water bottle EVERY DAY. We did have extra available, but have run out completely. Thank you!
We will be participating in the Genesis Flu-Free Quad Cities vaccine program for elementary students K-5. Genesis VNA provides this community service to us. The program provides a free flu shot to any student that has parent consent. The clinic will be here at school on Monday, October 11th. Please see the attached information sheet. An ONLINE CONSENT FORM will need to be completed for your student to participate in the program. The online form can be found here: Genesis Consent Form
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held Wednesday, October 6th and Thursday, October 7th from 1:30 – 7:15 p.m. Notices indicating the time and place of your child’s conference have been sent home. Please return these notices as soon as possible to confirm your conference time. Report cards will be sent home with students the day before conferences.
DUE TO CONFERENCES, WE WILL BE HAVING AN EARLY DISMISSAL AT 1:08/1:15 ON BOTH DAYS. THERE WILL BE NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8TH.
FROM THE LIBRARIAN – CHECK THIS OUT!
Our Scholastic Book Fair is being held at the Camanche Middle School Library next week. We will be open for business during Parent/Teacher Conferences (1:30-7:00 p.m.) both Wednesday and Thursday. We hope to see you there. If you would rather shop online, you can do that as well at this address: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/camanchemiddleschool1. All proceeds from the fair will be put to good use in providing quality reading materials for use by students and staff. We thank you heartily for your continued support of all of our efforts.
CONGRATULATIONS & THANK YOU to the 2021-2022 Conflict Managers as we enter our 29th year of this program. Conflict Managers have to work hard to complete the training, and they donate a few recesses each week to help our school be a more peaceful place.

This week as the students continue to learn about “Big Deals and Little Deals”, it’s important to remember that everyone makes mistakes. Take time to discuss as a family: “If I did it, I admit it”. Taking responsibility for our actions and behavior is a life skill that is critical in the success of our relationships and careers. In addition, knowing how to make a formal apology is crucial in order to move forward from our mistake. Practice making a formal apology with your student with these steps:
If I tell a lie, do something wrong, hurt someone else, or don’t follow through with a promise, I need to make a FORMAL APOLOGY:
1. Admit to myself (and others, if needed) that I’ve done something wrong
2. Look at the person I’ve hurt
3. Say his or her name and say, “I’m sorry for….” (state what I did)
4. Tell the person or people that I hurt that I will not do it again – and mean it!
5. Make restitution (how can I make it up to the person or people that I hurt? Make a plan and follow through!)
Here are scenarios for big deals and little deals. Read through them together and discuss if anyone did something wrong and how they could make an apology.
