Camanche Elementary Newsletter

September 9, 2021

Please remember to send your student to school with a water bottle EVERY DAY.  We did have extra available, but have run out completely.  Thank you!

Adult guests are welcome to come to school and eat lunch with their students J We have just a couple of rules that must be followed for guest lunches:

1.       Please call the school before 8:30 a.m. on the day that you would like to have lunch with your student. Our lunches are prepared at the middle school and we must order the number of hot lunches necessary each day. You are also welcome to bring a cold lunch from home.

2.     Only people listed as a contact in JMC can join a student for lunch. If you would like to change the contacts please do so with the office.

3.     All guests MUST bring a driver’s license to the office and get a visitor’s pass before going to the cafeteria.

For the last two weeks, I have been in the classrooms teaching the students what a school counselor does at the elementary school. Ask your student what a school counselor does, and see if they can remember a few of the things that I can help them with. We also took a few minutes to explore my online counseling classroom. You can access this from home and explore with them! Here is the link: Mrs. Munson's Virtual Counseling Classroom

It’s a great day to be a part of Camanche Storm,

Mrs. Munson

Who wants some elementary Storm apparel? Be on the look out for the CES Storm web store coming at the end of September. The PTA is in full swing and is very excited for this school year! We currently have 3 returning members and 3 new members so far. If you are interested in joining, feel free to come to the meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the elementary school cafeteria. You can also contact us via the PTA email at stormpta@yahoo.com or the Camanche Elementary PTA Facebook page. We are looking forward to a fun year of activities for the students and ready to assist our amazing faculty and staff in whatever they may need! Go CES Storm!

We started our reading goal on 9/1. All students have been provided a reading log or an agenda for their minutes. We are asking that every family spend 15 minutes Monday through Friday reading to their child, listening to their child read, and/or discussing what they are reading. When your child makes their monthly reading goal they will earn a brag tag. There are nine brag tags they can earn this year for making their reading goal. There is a little holder for these tags that will attach directly to their backpacks. We also have a donation of a pizza slice or a salad from Kwik Star for each child that makes their reading goal this month.

The class that reads the most will be given a trophy to display in their classroom for the month. Our first reading reward will be a pajama party day. If we make our reading goal the party will be on 10/11.
