Camanche Elementary Newsletter

April 8, 2021

Due to current circumstances, outside snacks and treats are not allowed to be brought into school for classroom or birthday celebrations.  However, the Camanche CSD Food Service department DOES have snacks available for purchase.  Snacks need to be ordered ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE of the date you would like them delivered.  Order forms can also be found on our school website at:  Thank you for keeping our students safe!

Congratulations to our school Sumdog teams. They earned first and second place in the Mississippi Bend Sumdog Math Contest! There were 34 teams in this competition. Our BLUE team earned first place! Members of the blue team are: Michaela Gendreau, Maci Hammond, Brayden Phillips, Quinten Toppert, Miranda Tucker, Carsten Toler, Kade Varner, Luke Gravert, Lakin Springer, Gabby Sampson, and Katelynn Burken. Our RED team earned second place! Red team members are: Owen Thomson, Wyatt Ohsann, Cameron Shaffer, Claire Dunlay, Sophia Johnson, Lily Laurion, Landon Green, Addison Totten, Hayleigh Lorenzen, Cody Gravert, and Madison Goff.

Carsten Toler was the first place champion out of the 224 participants. He correctly answered 998 questions out of 1000 math problems. CES had 6 students place in the top 10! Those students were: Carsten Toler, Wyatt Ohsann, Owen Thomson, Cameron Shaffer, Claire Dunlay, and Brayden Phillips. The teams are coached by Sheryl Kennedy. We are so proud of our mathematicians for their dedication. The participants had to complete 1000 math problems at their skill level within one week. They generally had to complete the problems outside of the school day.

Thank you to all of the families that are keeping your students’ lunch accounts in good standing even as we are currently able to offer free breakfasts and lunches to all students!  If your lunch account currently has a negative balance, please remember that a la carte items are not free or it may be a negative balance that carried over from last year. Please make every effort to pay any outstanding balance as soon as possible.  If you have any questions regarding your lunch account balance, please call Taryn at 563-259-3004 or email Thank you!
