CONGRATULATIONS LEGO LEAGUE!

Congratulations to the Mask Masters, our third grade Jr. Lego League/FLL Explore team! They were awarded the Challenge Solution Award at their recent virtual Regional event. This award is for a team that showed excellent problem-solving skills to create an innovative and helpful solution to the challenge. We are so proud of Addison Coffey, Emery Davis, Claire Dunlay, Lily Laurion, Sophia Morrow, and Lawson Sullivan!

PAJAMA DAY 2021

Let’s ease our way into the New Year by wearing our pajamas to school on Monday, January 4th! We hope you come back to school rested, relaxed, and ready to go for a great second half of the school year! Please wear your favorite pajamas or something fun and comfortable on our first day back from Winter Break!

GOOD LUCK SUMDOG TEAMS!

Good luck to our school Sumdog teams! Our two school teams started their competition last Friday. Each team member has to solve 1000 math problems at their skill level. They have one week to attempt all those math problems. Most of their work is done outside of the school day. The students are scored based on their accuracy, and if there is a tie, their fluency. We are so proud of these students for seeking this opportunity for an additional challenge in math!

Members of the blue team are: Michaela Gendreau, Maci Hammond, Brayden Phillips, Quinten Toppert, Miranda Tucker, Carsten Toler, Kade Varner, Emery Davis, Luke Gravert, Lakin Springer, Gabby Sampson, and Katelynn Burken.

Red team members are: Owen Thomson, Wyatt Ohsann, Cameron Shaffer, Claire Dunlay, Sophia Johnson, Lily Laurion, Landon Green, Addison Totten, Hayleigh Lorenzen, Cody Gravert, Elyna Clements, and Madison Goff.

The students are coached by Sheryl Kennedy. There are 38 teams in the contest. The teams are from schools throughout Eastern Iowa.

CES READING GOAL

As a school, we have set a goal of 89,400 minutes each month. We have read 30,527 minutes so far. Let’s work super hard to make our reading goal for the month of December. If we make our goal we will have a Neon Day on Monday, January 11th. Everyone can dress up in his/her favorite bright colors. I think we could all definitely use some bright colors in January!! Throughout the month of December Mrs. Dohse will read to the class weekly that has the most reading minutes above their goal. This week, Mrs. Knight’s class read the most minutes over their reading goal. Mrs. Dohse will be visiting Mrs. Knight’s pods and reading to them. WAY TO GO Mrs. Knight’s students!!! Who will get to be read to next week?
