Let’s Get Our STORM Spirit On!
Get ready, STORM fans—Homecoming Week is here this upcoming week! We have a week full of fun, school spirit, and exciting dress-up days planned. We can’t wait to see our students and staff showing off their STORM pride and getting into the Homecoming spirit!
And don’t forget one of the biggest celebrations of the week—the STORM Homecoming Parade on September 23 at 6:00 PM! We invite all of our families and community members to come out, cheer on our students, and enjoy the festivities. Please come and say “hi” to Mrs. Dohse. I will be at the corner by City Hall. Check out the parade route below and find a spot along the route to join the fun!
Let’s make this Homecoming Week one to remember! Wear your STORM colors, show your biggest smiles, and let’s STORM the week with school spirit!
Go STORM!
FROM MISS SMITH
This week students have been learning important skills to help them build positive relationships and make our school community a kind and supportive place.
K – We introduced the PATHS animal puppets! Ask your kindergartener about Twiggle the turtle and his friends.
1st – We are practicing good teamwork and talking about what makes someone a great teammate.
2nd – We are focusing on listening to others and why being a good listener is important.
3rd & 4th – We are learning about the Golden Rule; treating others the way we want to be treated.
Also this week, we are introducing a leadership project with our new “Leadership Passport”. Each student will get a passport and earn a stamp for each project they participate in. This month the project is anchored in gratitude. Students will have the opportunity to write thank-you letters to veterans participating in the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight. These letters will be given to veterans to open and read during their flight as a meaningful reminder of the appreciation and support of our students and school community.
DATES TO REMEMBER
