A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Camanche Elementary Families,
As we head into another week at Camanche Elementary, I want to encourage our families to make time for two simple things that have a tremendous impact on children: reading together and talking together.
Reading doesn’t have to mean sitting down with a book for a long period of time. Read a bedtime story, share a comic, look through a magazine, read a recipe while making dinner, or let your child see you enjoying a book. For our youngest learners, talking about pictures and telling stories together are wonderful ways to build language and imagination. For our older students, asking about what they are reading can open the door to some great conversations.
Just as important, take time to talk with your child. Ask about their day, what made them laugh, what they learned, what they are proud of, or who they helped. You might even ask, “What was the best part of your day?” or “What is something that made you smile today?” Sometimes the best conversations happen in the car, around the dinner table, or while getting ready for bed.
These everyday moments may seem small, but they help children develop vocabulary, confidence, curiosity, and a strong sense of connection. Most importantly, they remind our children that the adults in their lives are interested in what they think, what they wonder about, and what they have to say.
At Camanche Elementary, we are proud to partner with you in helping our students grow as learners and as kind, thoughtful, and confident young people.
Thank you for taking the time to read, talk, listen, and connect with your children. Those moments matter more than you may realize.
Have a wonderful week, Camanche families!
Warmly,
Principal Dohse
