FROM MRS. MUNSON

Family Topic of the Week: “Change Takes Time”. This week, we are talking about change and the important reminder that change takes time. There are two types of change: changes we can control and changes we cannot control. Both types require patience, understanding, and time to adjust. When unexpected changes happen in our lives – such as the loss of a loved one or changes in family structure – it can take time for children and adults to process emotions and adapt to a new normal. That’s completely natural. Open conversations, reassurance, and consistent routines can help children feel safe and supported during these times. You may find this resource useful: https://www.successconsciousness.com/blog/tips-for-life/tips-for-dealing-with-surprises-and-unexpected-events/

We also experience changes that are within our control, such as working to improve a behavior, building healthier habits, or learning a new skill. These changes don’t happen overnight. It takes practice and persistence to build new routines, and we may not see results right away. A positive mindset and patience with ourselves are key. To reinforce this message, consider watching this video together and discussing it as a family: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWp6kkz-pnQ

Thank you for partnering with us as we help students develop resilience, flexibility, and a growth mindset.
