FROM MRS. MUNSON

Discussion Topic for This Week: “Oh well, maybe next time!” This week, we’re continuing our focus on learning how to handle situations that don’t go the way we hoped. Building on last week’s theme of accepting things we may not like, we’re encouraging children to use the phrase “Oh well, maybe next time!” as a way to stay positive and keep trying.

We often practice this at school when a student feels disappointed about not being called on to answer a question. This phrase can also be helpful at home – like when you’re at the store and your child is upset about not getting a toy or treat they wanted. Gently remind them to use positive self-talk and say, “Oh well, maybe next time!”

Here are some books to read this week:

·       The Worst Day of My Life Ever! by Julia Cook

·       My Day Is Ruined! by Bryan Smith

These stories are great conversation starters about handling disappointment in a healthy way.
