NO SCHOOL – SPRING BREAK

FROM MRS. MUNSON

A Great Dinner Conversation Topic: “If I did it, I admit it.” This week, encourage your student to talk about what it means to take responsibility for their actions. Owning our mistakes is an important life skill that helps us build strong relationships at home, at school, and later in our careers. Learning how to make a formal apology is also an important step in moving forward when we’ve done something wrong. You can practice making a formal apology at home using these simple steps:

1.        Admit to yourself (and to others, if needed) that you did something wrong.

2.     Look at the person you hurt.

3.      Say their name and say, “I’m sorry for…” (and state what you did).

4.      Promise not to repeat the behavior – and truly mean it.

5.      Make it right by coming up with a plan to fix the situation, and follow through.

Books to read together this week:

·       But It’s Not My Fault by Julia Cook

·       Sorry, I Forgot to Ask by Jula Cook

·       Winnie the Pooh: I’m Really Sorry by Jamie Simons
