CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to the members of the CES Winter Sumdog Math Team! These students earned first place in the Iowa Winter Sumdog Math Contest, climbing to the top on the very first day and holding that position for the entire competition.

During the 4.5-day contest, each participant needed to solve 700 math problems, all matched to their individual math levels. Their focus, persistence, and problem-solving skills paid off as they earned first place in the state of Iowa.

Kinnick Coffey earned first place in the statewide contest. Garrett Snodgrass, Bailee Peterson, Iris Thompson, Mayva Clements, Cully Enloe, Declan Handley, Isaak Cinadr, Jenna Lehmkuhl, and Autumn Snodgrass finished close behind, rounding out the top ten in the state.

Additional hardworking members of the CES Sumdog team include Brynne Hilgendorf, Lily Lambert, Addi McDonnell, Emery Drury, Harper Mink, and Kierstyn Handy.

We are incredibly proud of these dedicated mathematicians and their outstanding achievement!  The team is coached by Sheryl Kennedy.

FROM MRS. MUNSON

This week’s discussion topic: What does it mean to be a team player? This week, encourage your student to think about how to work well with others. Being a team player is an important life skill – one that will help children succeed now and in the future. In fact, teamwork is one of the top qualities employers look for in adults. That’s why we practice working together in small groups here at school, giving students lots of chances to build these skills. Want to learn more?
