WINTER CLASSROOM PARTIES
Camanche Elementary classrooms will have their winter parties on Friday, December 19th. Our PTA has GENEROUSLY offered to pay for all classrooms’ drinks and snacks for this party! THANK YOU PTA!!
GOOD LUCK LEGO LEAGUE
We wish the best of luck to our 4th grade Lego League team in their upcoming Regional competition. This year, the team needed to learn about archaeology and some of the problems archaeologists encounter while working. The team zoomed with a professional archaeologist in Corinth, Italy, and they zoomed with an archaeologist in Germany. Then they created a solution to a problem archaeologists encounter. The team also had to program a Spike Prime robot to perform a variety of missions. Members of the 4th grade Lego League team, Excavate Evolution, are Izaak Cinadr, Cully Enlow, Brynne Hilgendorf, Dexter Kelley, Jenna Lehmkuhl, Harper Mink, Mckinley Schwandt, Autumn Snodgrass, and Garrett Snodgrass. The team is coached by Sheryl Kennedy.
PREPARING FOR WINTER
Reminder that our school policy states that ALL students go outside for recess unless they have a note from their family physician stating a need for them to remain indoors, or if the temperature (actual or wind chill) is less than TEN DEGREES.
With cold and snowy weather comes the possibility of late starts, early outs, and school cancellations. Please make sure that your phone numbers are up to date in your Family Portal to be sure that you receive the texted and recorded all-district messages sent from Mr. Shaffer when necessary.
COLD WEATHER GEAR
Students should come to school each day dressed for that day’s weather. Please take a moment to make sure that your child’s name is written on all of their outerwear. Students are required to have snow boots and snow pants to go off the blacktop area and play in the snow.
If you are unable to provide your child(ren) with the needed outerwear, please contact CES at 563-259-3016. All information is kept strictly confidential.
FROM MRS. MUNSON
Problem-Solving with PATHS – In our counseling lessons, students are practicing PATHS problem-solving strategies to help them handle everyday challenges in positive and confident ways. Using the PATHS model, students learn to:
· Stop and think before reacting
· Identify the problem and how they feel
· Consider safe choices and possible solutions
· Evaluate which choice will have the best outcome
· Try it out and learn from the result
We encourage families to use the same language at home! When a problem pops up – big or small – pause together and ask: “What’s the problem? What are some ideas to solve it? Which idea is best?” By practicing these steps, students build emotional awareness, responsibility, and strong decision-making skills. Thank you for partnering with us to help students grow socially and emotionally every day!
