FROM MRS. MUNSON

This week, take some time to talk with your child about what it means to recognize their strengths and weaknesses. Understanding what we’re good at – and what we might need help with – is an important part of growing and learning. When children know their strengths, it helps build their self-confidence and self-awareness. It also helps them see that everyone is unique and has something special to offer. Recognizing weaknesses isn’t a bad thing – it just helps us know where we can improve and grow.

Here are a few ideas to start the conversation at home:

·       Ask your child what they think they’re really good at. What makes them proud?

·       Talk about something they find challenging. How do you feel when something is hard? What helps them keep going?

·       Share some of your own strengths and weaknesses. It helps children see that everyone is always learning – even adults!

Here are some books to read together this week:

·       Study Skilled… NOT!!! by Julia Cook

·       Hooray for You by Marianne Richmond

·       I’m Special, I’m Me by Ann Meek and Sarah Massini

·       I am Human by Susan Verde
