NO SCHOOL TOMORROW
Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL TOMORROW.
TIME TO SPRING FORWARD THIS WEEKEND!
This Sunday, March 8th, it will be time to SPRING FORWARD to Daylight Savings Time. Be sure to set your clocks ahead one hour on Sunday. Just a reminder that school starts each morning at 7:58 and the tardy bell is at 8:03.
Our high school basketball team is going to the 2020 IHSAA State Basketball Tournament next week! Please make sure to check the note that was emailed to all parents regarding the Camanche CSD schedule for next week.
A free vision screening by the local Lions Club will be offered to CES preschool and kindergarten students on March 26th. The screenings are in conjunction with KidSight in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Iowa Family Children’s Hospital. The vision screening produces images of a child’s eyes to determine the presence of eye disorders. No physical contact is made with a child and no eye drops are used for the screening. We will be sending consent forms home to parents soon. Completed consent forms MUST BE RETURNED BY MARCH 20TH f you would like your child to receive the screening. If you have any questions, please contact: Iowa KidSight, 2431 Coral Court #5, Coralville, Iowa 52241 or 319-353-7616 or email@example.com.
SUMDOG MATH CONTEST
Congratulations to our school Sumdog teams! They swept the Mississippi Bend AEA Regional Sumdog Math contest. There were 49 teams in the contest. The Camanche Blue team earned first place. The Camanche Gold team earned second place and the Camanche Red team took third place. The top scoring students were all CES students. Both Olivia Steines and Grace Dorsey correctly answered 999 of their 1000 math questions. Jacoby Sampson, Chloe Toler, Owen Thomson, Carsten Toler, Autumn Klahn, Wyatt Ohsann, Jenna Dunlap, and Jackson Loch rounded out the top 10 students out of the 568 students in the contest. Members of the Blue team were: Ben Burken, Grace Dorsey, Autumn Klahn, Jackson Loch, Wyatt Ohsann, Brayden Phillips, Cailee Sullivan, Drew Graves, Miranda Tucker, Kade Varner, and Claire Dunlay. Members of the Gold team are Addison Coffey, Vinnie Duran, Michaela Gendreau, Sophia Johnson, Maci Kibler, Lily Laurion, Olivia Steines, Owen Thomson, Carsten Toler, and Chloe Toler. Members of the Red team were Jenna Dunlap, Madalyn Goddard, Cody Gravert, Luke Gravert, Carter Kennedy, Tyler Lehmkuhl, Ben Overberg, Jacoby Sampson, Vinnie Srp, Quinten Toppert, and Collin VanZuiden. These students generally answered their 1000 math questions outside of the school day. CES is so proud of our dedicated and determined mathematicians!
Recently, CES sent more than 340 markers to Crayola for recycling. Way to go, CES! The Crayola recycling program is free for our school and an excellent way to keep plastic markers out of the landfill. It takes plastic items many, many years to decompose. Feel free to have your CES student bring dried up, worn out markers from homes, churches, or businesses. Crayola pays the shipping fee. Mrs. Kennedy has her younger students work on their math skills when counting the markers and preparing them to be shipped.
CES READING GOAL
Way to go Camanche Elementary! We surpassed our reading goal of 109,000 minutes in the month of February! We read 111,468 minutes! We will be celebrating by dressing for our future profession! Thank you for helping support this work!
If your student is going to be absent, will arrive late, or needs to leave early, please make sure to call the main office no later than 9 a.m. on the day of the absence, tardy, or early dismissal.
Our attendance is currently 95.94%. As a school, we have set a goal of 96.5%. Thank you for working with us to reach that goal, EVERY DAY matters.
