PRESCHOOL INFORMATION NIGHT – TONIGHT!
Children who live in Iowa and will turn 4 on or before September 15th qualify for FREE preschool. We’d like to invite you to an informational meeting on Thursday, February 6th at 5:00 p.m. in the elementary school library. We will give you some insights regarding our district’s free preschool program and hand out applications for the 2020-2021 school year. If you are unable to attend, please contact us at 259-3016.
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART
Our Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser will run February 5th through February 19th! Please make sure to check out the attached flyer! Students that collect $50 or more in donations will receive a FREE ticket to the Quad City Storm hockey game on Saturday, March 28th and top fundraising students have the opportunity to participate in even more fun at the game! Students that fundraise online also have the opportunity for great savings to Chicago sports! Make sure to check out the flyers!!
FROM THE DISTRICT LIBRARIAN – CHECK THIS OUT!
Our Scholastic Book Fair is right around the corner! We will host the book fair in our ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Media Center during our spring conferences (1:30-7:00 p.m.) on Wednesday, March 4th and Thursday, March 5th. Watch for flyers to be sent home earlier that week for information on how you can order from home and have your order sent directly to school where we will deliver to your children. Can’t wait to see all of you, and watch the students’ faces light up with the prospect of buying books of their own!
SINGING VALENTINES
Need the perfect gift to give your sweetheart? Why not a singing valentine? Singing valentines are a fundraiser for the Camanche High School Vocal Department. The cost is only $5 and must be purchased by Wednesday, February 12th. Every person receiving a singing valentine will receive a sweet song AND a Sweetheart Bakery decorated cookie. The order form is attached and also available in the office at Camanche Elementary.
CRAYOLA COLORCYCLE
This week Mrs. Kennedy sent 474 dried up, worn out markers to Crayola so the markers could be recycled. Way to go Camanche Elementary! We are recycling and reusing items instead of just throwing them away. We will continue to collect old worn out, dried up markers. Students can bring markers from home and other places. Crayola pays the shipping so recycling the markers is free and good for our environment!
JR. LEGO LEAGUE TO WORLD EXPO
Congratulations to our school’s Jr. Lego League team, the Life Savers. This team was selected to represent the state of Iowa at the World Expo held in Michigan in April! Members of the Life Savers are Tenley Cewe, Maci Kibler, Tyler Lehmkuhl, Olivia Munson, Wyatt Ohsann, and Cameron Shaffer. The team is coached by Sheryl Kennedy. Only 60 teams out of the 28,000 teams that participated in Jr. Lego League worldwide were given this opportunity.
HEALTHY HABITS CALENDAR
The February Healthy Habits Calendar is attached to the CES newsletter emailed out this week! Just a reminder that any student that completes at least 23 days of activities listed on the calendar AND returns the calendar to school on Monday, March 2nd will receive an extra recess with Mr. D.!
CLASSROOM PARTIES
We will be having our classroom parties on Friday, February 14th from 2:30-3:00. Please follow the guidelines from the Healthy Kids Act. A list of approved snacks is available on our website. Due to food allergies, any items that do not come pre-packaged will be sent back home with the family that brought them. Thank you for keeping our students safe!
SPRING PORTRAITS
Lifetouch Photography will be at Camanche Elementary on Thursday, February 13th to take spring portraits. All students will have their pictures taken, with no obligation to purchase. There is no need to fill out any order forms as the same packet is printed for all students and the portrait sheets will be available for purchase. However, parents do have the option of picking a portrait background. Selection forms will be sent home with students soon. If you would like, please select the portrait look and background and return the selection form on or before picture day.
KINDERGARTEN ROUND UP
Kindergarten Round Up will be held on Thursday, February 20th from 5:00-6:00PM & Friday, February 21st from 8:30-9:30AM & 10:00-11:00AM. If you have a child that will turn 5 years old on or before September 15, 2020, please call our office to add them to our Round Up list. We can’t wait to meet all of our future kindergarteners!
CES READING GOAL
Way to go Camanche Elementary! We surpassed our reading goal of 109,000 minutes in the month of January! We read 116,098 minutes! We will be celebrating with a ½ hour of board games. Thank you for helping support this work!
We hope that you are already reading for the next reading reward! We will celebrate in March if/when we reach our February reading goal of 109,000 minutes.
ATTENDANCE
If your student is going to be absent, will arrive late, or needs to leave early, please make sure to call the main office no later than 9 a.m. on the day of the absence, tardy, or early dismissal.
Our attendance is currently 96.13%. As a school, we have set a goal of 96.5%. Thank you for working with us to reach that goal, EVERY DAY matters.
