Our last field trip fundraiser of the school year will be Tuesday, May 7th at Applebee’s. Applebee’s will donate a portion of certain menu items from 4pm-8pm. We will also have two raffle baskets with Camanche Storm merchandise: umbrella, golf towel, crazy hair, hair bow, headband, and a pop socket. Tickets will be $1 per ticket or $5 for 6 tickets. Thank you to everyone who has supported field trips this year! Students have/will visit The Bettendorf Family Museum, The Quad City Botanical Center, Heritage Canyon, and Creative Adventure Lab in Dubuque.

Penny Wars is coming!!! Penny Wars will be May 20th-24th. There will be daily prizes for the classroom with the highest total and for the top class of the week.

Our fourth graders have picked the theme Marble. Fourth grade parents, please send us your favorite baby picture for the “Guess the 4th Grader Baby” page. These can be sent to the Camanche Elementary PTA Facebook Messenger or email stormpta@yahoo.com. Yearbooks are $22 plus tax for soft cover and $28.32 for hard cover. Don’t forget you can design two FREE custom pages of your student in their book. Custom pages must be completed by April 30th. The yearbook will be submitted May 5th to guarantee delivery by the end of the school year.             Our final meeting of the year will be Tuesday, May 14th at 6pm in the CES cafeteria. We would love to see you there! The PTA will need a new board starting the 2025-2026 school year. There is one member who will have students at the elementary school. The PTA will not be able to continue with only one member. The PTA funds field trips, hosts the Monster Mash, Ties and Tiaras, the Holiday Shop, the yearbook, and funding items that enhance the students learning experience. If you have thought about joining, next year would be a great opportunity! Feel free to contact Erin Ohsann or Jessica Volz.  We can be contacted through our Camanche Elementary PTA Facebook Messenger and stormpta@yahoo..com. GO STORM!

FROM MRS. MUNSON

This week a topic to discuss with your student(s) is: “It’s ok to not know, but it’s not ok to not try”. This builds off of last week’s theme of perseverance. Trying new things can be intimidating and scary for both children and adults. It’s important to teach your child to acknowledge those feelings (all feelings are ok), but not to let those uncomfortable feelings keep them from trying something new. Encourage your child to try something new this week and not to give up if it doesn’t go as planned. Talk about how it felt to try something new, how it went, and how they felt after.

Here are some books to read this week:

·       If I Never Forever Endeavor by Holly Meade

·       The Pink Refrigerator by Tim Egan

·       Everyone Can Learn to Ride a Bike by Chris Raschka

·       The Dot by Peter Reynolds

·       The Otherwise by Jaqueline Woodson

·       Sergio Makes a Splash by Edel Rodriquez

·       I Will Never Not Eat a Tomato by Lauren Child
