FROM MRS. MUNSON

This week take the time to discuss with your student(s): “tattling is getting someone in trouble, reporting is getting someone out of trouble”. We use the Big Deals and Little Deals Book by Kim Edmister to help us to decide if we need to tell an adult about a situation. If someone is getting hurt, something is dangerous, or making them worried or afraid, it is a big deal and kids should report it to an adult. A good way to remember the differences is tattling is trying to get someone into trouble, reporting is getting someone out of trouble.

Here are a few books you can read with your student(s) about tattling::

·       Don’t Squeal Unless It’s a Big Deal by Jeanie Franz Ransom

·       A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue by Julia Cook

·       Miles McHale Tattletale by Christianne Jones

Check out this great article that provides insight to why children tattle and how we can help teach appropriate problem solving skills: https://www.kellybear.com/TeacherArticles/TeacherTip63.html
