Camanche School Board

The Camanche School District’s Board of Education met on Monday, December 18thPlease note that these are not the official minutes.  The official Agendas and Minutes from the Camanche Community School District school board are available and posted on our school district website (camanche.k12.ia.us). 

Items to highlight from this school board meeting would include:

  •  Superintendent Parker formally announced his upcoming retirement to the school board and submitted his letter of retirement/resignation, effective June 30, 2024.  The Board congratulated him on his upcoming retirement, expressed their appreciation for his years of service to the District, and took action to accept his resignation and retirement.
  • Superintendent Parker reported to the Board that the hearing before the School Budget Review Committee (SBRC) went fine and that the SBRC accepted the District’s Corrective Action Plan with no discussion.
  • The school board heard a presentation from Dann Stevens, representing Timberline Billing.  This firm would assist the District in obtaining Medicaid reimbursements for eligible students.  The Board will take this proposal under further consideration at next month’s meeting.
  • The Board heard a presentation from Nolan Grimm, representing Jester Insurance.  He presented a proposed Equipment Maintenance Program for the Board’s consideration. The Board will discuss this further at next month’s meeting.
  • The Board heard updates from a representative from Estes Construction about the Facilities Enhancement Project and approved Change Orders for this project as we near its completion.  
  • The principals informed the Board about ongoing and upcoming activities at each of their schools.
  • The Board set a Special Meeting for January 3, 3024 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the IASB School Improvement Needs Assessment Survey, to review the Board’s Staff Recognition Award, to review the General Obligation Finances from the Facilities Enhancement Project, and to discuss the upcoming search for the next superintendent for the Camanche School District.

As is usually the case, the school board completed the meeting by approving administrative recommendations regarding personnel.
