Items to highlight from this school board meeting would include:

  •  The school board conducted their Annual Meeting this evening.  This type of meeting is required by the state and allows the current Board to bring closure to their unfinished business before the new school board is seated.
  • The Board approved the school district applying for Modified Supplemental Amount for the cost of the English Language Learner program for students needing support beyond five years.
  •  The Board approved the school district applying for Modified Supplemental Amount for Open Enrolled Out students who were not on the prior year’s count.
  • The Board reappointed Roxanne Aude as Secretary/Treasurer, Ahlers & Cooney as Legal Counsel, and designated the school district’s Depositories.
  • The Board heard updates from a representative from Estes Construction about the Facilities Enhancement Project and approved Change Orders for this project as we near its completion.
  • Superintendent Parker informed the Board that the Open House, Ribbon Cutting, and Cornerstone Ceremony went very well and he thanked all who either attended or participated in this event.
  • Business Director Aude updated the Board about several areas she is working on including exploring the possibility of accessing Medicaid funding; considering the use of an equipment maintenance insurance program; and she also updated the Board about enrollment and funding trends across the state.
  • The principals informed the Board about ongoing and upcoming activities at each of their schools.
  • Superintendent Parker congratulated Travis Baker, Janna Linville-Morrow, and Brad Weber upon their re-election. He also congratulated Adam Collins and Jeff Graves who were elected as first-time school board members.
  • The Board and Superintendent Parker thanked Board members Shane Bark and Albert McManus for their years of service to the children of Camanche through their work on the school board.  They will be departing the Board after this evening’s meeting.  Their work is greatly appreciated

  • The Board continued their discussion regarding the use of a School Improvement Needs Assessment Survey.  This would be an on-line survey that the district would encourage community, students, and staff to participate in. The Iowa Association of School Boards can provide the assessment and would facilitate its administration and analysis.  The Board decided it will discuss this topic in the near future at a special meeting in January
  • The Board set a Special Meeting for January 3, 3024 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the IASB School Improvement Needs Assessment Survey, to review the Board’s Staff Recognition Award, and to review the General Obligation Finances from the Facilities Enhancement Project.

As is usually the case, the school board completed the meeting by approving administrative recommendations regarding personnel.
