Our fourth annual spring music informances are coming up next month! Our informances are brief evening programs that each grade level puts on to share what they’ve learned in music and movement class. They will be held in the gym and students should dress casual, a pair of jeans and a nice t-shirt would be great!

First Grade – Monday, May 6th – 6:45 p.m.

Second Grade – Thursday, May 9th – 6:00 p.m.

Third Grade – Thursday, May 9th – 6:45 p.m.

Fourth Grade – Thursday, May 16th – 6:00 p.m.

Please enter the building through the doors located on the south side of the gym. Thank you!

JR LEGO LEAGUE TO WORLD EXPO

The Jr. Lego Leaguers would like to recognize Citizens First Bank for their donation to the team for the upcoming World Championship competition. There are more than 20,000 Jr. Lego League teams throughout the world and only the top 60 Jr. Lego League teams were invited to this competition. The World Championship is the largest STEM event in the world with more than 30,000 students competing in one of the four age groups. There will be teams from more than 40 countries participating. The Moon Savers were thrilled to be asked to compete. Members of the Moon Savers are Beau Bigwood, Jenna Dunlap, Archer Kelly, Autumn Klahn, Kennedy Melchiori, and Mia Macke. They are coached by Sheryl Kennedy.

CRAYOLA COLORCYCLE

Camanche Elementary, we are doing a great job of recycling our markers!! Mrs. Kennedy recently sent another box of dried out markers to Crayola to be recycled. Our school has now sent a total of 2,823 markers to be recycled. The Crayola recycling program accepts any brand of markers. Markers from home, businesses, offices, and school can be brought to a specially marked box in the hallway by Mrs. Kennedy’s classroom. When the box is full, all the markers will be sent to Crayola at no cost to the school. This is such an easy way to help take care of our earth and to show our children the importance of recycling!

EARLY ARRIVALS

We are starting to see some of our students arriving too early to school each morning. Please remember that outdoor supervision is not provided until 7:45 a.m.  Students that would like to eat breakfast before school should come at 7:30 a.m. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Mrs. Bielenberg, Ms. Buckley, Mrs. Darling, Mrs. Keeney, Mrs. Kennedy, Mrs. Klahn, Ms. Mink, Mrs. Munck, and Mrs. Simmons for being awarded a grant from Iowa STEM!  They wrote a grant to obtain materials for conducting more hands on science lessons.  Iowa STEM received more than 120 applications for funding and only a portion of those applications were funded. They will receive more than $18,000 worth of materials and training!

CULTURE FAIR

Thank you for your wonderful support of our two weeks of International Studies!! It was terrific to see so many of the children participate in the schoolwide parade. This year we had two Culture Fair Open Houses. Both were well attended! This was an engaging educational experience for the participants in our Culture Fair learning opportunities. We appreciate your support!

CES READING GOAL

As a school we have set a goal of 98.500 minutes in the month of April. So far, our school has read 44,793 minutes. We will have our school lunch outside on Monday, May 6th if/when we reach our goal. Thank you for helping support this work!
