School Board Summary - 2/18/19

The Camanche School District’s Board of Education held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, February 18thPlease note that these are not the official minutes.  The official Agendas and Minutes from the Camanche Community School District school board are available and posted on our school district website (camanche.k12.ia.us).

Items to highlight from this school board meeting would include:

  • The Board reviewed community input regarding their thoughts about facility needs in the Camanche School District.  A discussion followed in which the Board appointed three of their members (Todd Gravert, Stacy Kinkaid, and Albert McManus) to an action committee to develop a plan for proceeding with this process.  The Board would like to provide additional opportunities to the public to provide their input.  Also, the Board will keep the online survey available on the district’s website, to give stakeholders who have not already done so, an opportunity to provide their ideas.
  • The Board reviewed and approved a plan to make up the school days lost to inclement weather this school year.  A complete copy of this plan is posted on the district’s website under the news section.  As of the night of the school board meeting, school will now be held on March 8th, April 18th, and June 3rd.  If additional make up days are needed they will be added in June, starting on June 4th.  Graduation will still be held, as scheduled, on Sunday, May 26th.
  • The 2019-20 school calendar was presented and approved at this meeting.  The 2019-20 school year for students will start on August 23rd and is scheduled to end on June 1st.
  •
As is usually the case, the school board completed the meeting by approving administrative recommendations regarding personnel and also approving open enrollment requests into the Camanche School District.
