KINDERGARTEN ROUND UP

            THANK YOU to all of our future kindergarteners and parents that were able to attend Kindergarten Round Up last week! If you were not able to attend, please be sure to complete the paperwork that was mailed to you prior to Round Up and return it to our office along with a copy of your child’s birth certificate and immunization record.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL PLAY – JUNIE B. JONES IS NOT A CROOK

            Camanche Middle School is proud to present “Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook”. Please come out and support our fine arts and enjoy a great show! Show times are: Friday, March 1st at 7:00 p.m. & Saturday, March 2nd at 7:00 p.m. Shows will be held in the Camanche Middle School Gym. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children and senior citizens.

 

SUMDOG MATH CONTEST

            Our school’s Sumdog teams swept the Eastern Iowa Sumdog Contest! The Blue team earned first place out of 67 teams! The White team earned 2nd place and the Red team finished in third. Josie Srp earned first place out of the 754 students participating. She correctly answered 999 math questions out of 1000. Bobby Evers was a close second. He correctly answered 998 questions. Rounding out the top 10 highest scores were Olivia Steines, Grace Dorsey, Jayda Clements, Olivia Harridge, and Jenna Dunlap. Fourteen of the Camanche students correctly answered more than 950 of their 1000 math questions. Another ten students correctly answered more than 900 of their 1000 math questions.

Members of the Camanche Blue team were Josie Srp, Grace Dorsey, Jenna Dunlap, Chloe Toler, Owen Thomson, Presley Rumler, Easton Steffes, Wyatt Ohsann, Archer Kelly, Bobby Hundley, Vinnie Srp, and Adrien Kane. Camanche White team members were Olivia Steines, Olivia Harridge, Kady Dunnett, Jackson Loch, Cooper Beasinger, Brayden Phillips, Cameron Shaffer, Mason Hilgendorf, Miranda Tucker, and Elliot Boonstra. Bobby Evers, Jayda Clements, Beau Bigwood, Daitoniah Ebensberger, Grace Alderman, Ben Burken, Reid Jacobs, Drew Graves, Cailee Sullivan, Jeremy Overberg, and Caleb Graham were on the Red team.

Camanche Elementary is SO PROUD of all of the Eastern Iowa Sumdog participants! The students were coached by Sheryl Kennedy.

 

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES – NEXT WEEK!

            Parent/Teacher Conferences are next week! Conferences will be held on Wednesday, March 6th and Thursday, March 7th from 1:30 – 7:30 p.m. A notice indicating the time and place of your child’s conference will be sent home soon. Please return this notice as soon as possible to confirm your conference time. Report cards will be sent home with students the day before conferences.

 

DUE TO CONFERENCES, WE WILL BE HAVING AN EARLY DISMISSAL AT 1:08/1:15 ON BOTH DAYS.

DUE TO THE AMENDED SCHOOL CALENDAR, WE WILL BE HAVING SCHOOL ON FRIDAY, MARCH 8.

 

SPRING PORTRAITS

            Spring portraits that were taken earlier this month should be here and available for viewing and purchasing at Parent/Teacher Conferences on March 6th & 7th. Pictures will NOT be sent home with students. Families will need to come to the office before or after their child’s conference to view portraits. Payment for any pictures you wish to purchase must be made before pictures can be taken home.  Payments can be made online or at conferences. Our Picture Day ID is BN318034Q0 for online purchases.  CHANGE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT OUR BUILDING. Payment forms accepted at conferences will be cash with exact change or checks or money orders made out to Lifetouch.  Please see the attached pricing sheet.

  

CAMANCHE ELEMENTARY ART SHOW

            Come one, come all to the Camanche Elementary Art Show! This extraordinary show will be displayed around the specials and cafeteria hallways during both conference days. There will be work featuring K-4th unit projects, as well as a “Spotlight Artist” board featuring above and beyond student effort. Please show your support and come see your child’s work and what they have accomplished in art class!

 

FROM THE K-8 LIBRARIAN – CHECK THIS OUT!

            Our Scholastic Book Fair is next week! We will host the book fair in our Elementary Media Center during our spring conferences (1:30-7:00pm) on Wednesday, March 6th and Thursday, March 7th. Watch for flyers to be sent home earlier that week for information on how you can order from home and have your order sent directly to school where we will deliver to your children. We can’t wait to see all of you, and watch the students’ faces light up with the prospect of buying books of their own!

 

LOST & FOUND

            Parents, please stop in the hallway outside of our cafeteria to look through the abundance of lost and found items while you are in our building for parent/teacher conferences. Any items that have not been retrieved by the end of parent/teacher conferences will be donated to Goodwill. Thank you!

 

PRESCHOOL INFORMATION NIGHT

            Children who will turn 4 on or before September 15th qualify for FREE preschool.  We’d like to invite you to an informational meeting on Thursday, March 21st at 5:00 p.m. in the elementary school library. We will give you some insights regarding our district’s free preschool program and hand out applications for the 2019-2020 school year. If you are unable to attend, please contact us at 259-3016.

 

HEALTHY HABITS CALENDAR

            February calendars were due TODAY!  March calendars will be coming home TOMORROW!  And are also attached if you would like to print your own.  Any students that complete at least 23 days of activities listed on the calendar AND return the calendar to school on Monday, April 4th will receive an extra recess with Mr. D.!

 

CES READING GOAL

            As a school we have set a goal of 98,500 minutes in the month of February. So far, our school has read 67,896 minutes.  We will celebrate with an extra 30 minutes of art on Friday, March 8th if/when we reach our goal. Thank you for helping support this work!

 

ATTENDANCE

            If your student is going to be absent, will arrive late, or needs to leave early, please make sure to call the main office no later than 9 a.m. on the day of the absence, tardy or early dismissal.

Our attendance is currently 96.31%. We as a school have set a goal of 97%. Thank you for working with us to reach that goal, EVERY DAY matters.
