NEWSLETTER #21-2

September 3, 2020

NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7TH

There will be NO SCHOOL on MONDAY, September 7th in observation of the Labor Day holiday.

THANK YOU JOHN DEERE

The Camanche Lego League – Challenge (formerly known as the Lego League) team and the Camanche Lego League – Explore (formerly known as the Jr. Lego League) team thank John Deere for sponsoring their teams. John Deere paid for their registration and materials, which total more than $500. We greatly appreciate their support!

THANK YOU ADM

We also thank ADM for their generous donation. ADM is providing the funding to purchase 5 new Lego Spike Prime robotic sets and 5 Lego STEAM Park education sets. The Lego Spike Prime robots will be utilized by the third and fourth grade students who attend classes with Sheryl Kennedy. The Lego STEAM Park education sets will be utilized by some of the students in kindergarten and first grade. The children at CES have enhanced opportunities for STEM education in part due to the financial support of area businesses like ADM.

CRAYOLA COLORCYCLE

Crayola is no longer accepting markers for recycling purposes. So there is no need to send old and worn out markers to school anymore. CES was a proud participant in Crayola’s marker recycling program. We prevented hundreds of pounds of markers from sitting in landfills. We are proud of our contribution and look forward to Crayola resuming this program in the future.

DROP-OFF & PICK-UPS

Please remember that 6th Avenue, located on the west side of the playground, is treated as a ONE-WAY every morning and afternoon to accommodate the traffic flow of parents dropping off and picking up students.

NEWSLETTERS & MENUS ARE ONLINE

In an effort to be environmentally friendly, we will no longer print off weekly newsletters, but post them electronically instead.  Please make sure we have the correct email on file for you, as that is how we will send the newsletters each week.  They will also be posted on our Facebook page, and on our district website at: https://www.camanche.k12.ia.us/o/camanchecsd/news?filter=39513

We will also send our breakfast and lunch menus electronically.  They will be emailed, be posted on our school Facebook page, and are available on our district website at: https://camanche.nutrislice.com/menu/elementary-school

MUSIC NOTES

All Camanche Elementary Families: Please see that your child wears their gym shoes on the days they have music class. If you have any questions or concerns, I can be contacted through the school or by email at: jmeyer@camanchecsd.org.

Thank you! - Miss Jen, Music Teacher

GYM SHOES

Mr. DeNeve would like to remind all our families that gym shoes are required for his students to participate in PE class.  Please see that your child wears their gym shoes on the days they have PE.  With that in mind, if you happen to have any used shoes that are in good condition, and you are willing to donate to his program, he would be happy to take them off your hands to share with students that forget to wear their gym shoes to his class.

CAMANCHE FOOD PANTRY

The Camanche Food Pantry is available to all Camanche residents.  It is located at 1100 3rd Street and open Wednesdays from 8:30 – 9:30 and Thursdays from 1:30 – 2:30.  All information is kept confidential.  If you have any questions, please call Roxann at 563-259-1130.
