FALL FEST

Camanche Elementary classes will be celebrating fall with a Fall Fest tomorrow from 2:30-3:00 p.m. Please follow the guidelines from the Healthy Kids Act. A list of approved snacks is available on our school website. Due to food allergies, any items that do not come pre-packaged will be sent back home with the family that brought them. Thank you for keeping our students safe!

DAY OF AWESOMENESS

The NEW date for the PTA’s Day of Awesomeness here at CES is Monday, October 28th. There will be an epic Step It Up obstacle course, a DJ dance party, and other prizes! Please send your child with an extra pair of socks on this day!

CAMANCHE ELEMENTARY: ENDGAME OF HUNGER

Nick Fury once said: “There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable people to see if we could become something more.” He was referring to the Avengers. I however, am referring to our Camanche Elementary students. We need our group of remarkable students to come together to help the Camanche Food Pantry. Our annual food drive will start on Monday, October 28th and it will end on Friday, November 15th. Each classroom will be an Avenger trying to get to the end of the bulletin board to take the Infinity Gauntlet with all of the infinity stones away from Thanos! The winning class at the end of each week will earn an extra recess and the winning class at the end of the food drive receives an extra recess, a special hero treat, and the Food Drive traveling trophy! The number of non-perishable items and/or amount of money donated ($.50 equals one non-perishable item) will be counted daily and each classroom’s Avenger will be on the bulletin board by the cafeteria. You can’t fight Thanos alone, that’s why the CES Avengers must come together to end hunger. Avengers assemble.

Third and fourth grade students recently made posters in art class for the annual Fire Prevention Poster Contest. The winners of the contest were chosen by the Camanche Fire Department and were displayed at their Open House. Congratulations to this year’s winners!

Our fourth graders earned first place by 1 point during the last few minutes of the weeklong contest. The third graders finished in second place well ahead of the remaining teams. There were 932 students in the contest and CES students had the 10 highest scores in the event. Olivia Steines captured first place by correctly answering 991 questions out of 1000. Grace Dorsey and Wyatt Ohsann were right behind her in their accuracy. Rounding out the top 10 scores were: Owen Thomson, Jacoby Sampson, Jenna Dunlap, Kiara Krueger, Autumn Klahn, Michaela Gendreau, and Maci Kibler. Vinnie Srp, Drew Graves, Ben Burken, Vinnie Duran, Cailee Sullivan, and Brielle Bitler were mathematicians on the victorious fourth grade team. Jackson Loch, Brayden Phillips, Quinten Toppert, Tyler Lehmkuhl, Ben Overberg, Miranda Tucker, and Collin VanZuiden were on the very successful third grade team. We are so proud of all of our dedicated and determined Sumdog math contest participants. They did a terrific job!

CES READING GOAL

As a school, we set a goal of reading 109,000 minutes in the month of October. So far, we have read 66,447 minutes. We will wear hats on November 11th if/when we reach our goal. If we do not reach our entire school goal the class that exceeds their goal the most will get to wear hats. Thank you for helping support this work!

If your student is going to be absent, will arrive late, or needs to leave early, please make sure to call the main office no later than 9 a.m. on the day of the absence, tardy, or early dismissal.
