NO SCHOOL

            Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL on Friday, April 19^th and Monday, April 22^nd due to Spring Break.

 

EARLY ARRIVALS

            We are starting to see some of our students arriving too early to school each morning. Please remember that outdoor supervision is not provided until 7:45 a.m.  Students that would like to eat breakfast before school should come at 7:30 a.m. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

 

CONGRATULATIONS

            Congratulations to Mrs. Bielenberg, Ms. Buckley, Mrs. Darling, Mrs. Keeney, Mrs. Kennedy, Mrs. Klahn, Ms. Mink, Mrs. Munck, and Mrs. Simmons for being awarded a grant from Iowa STEM!  They wrote a grant to obtain materials for conducting more hands on science lessons.  Iowa STEM received more than 120 applications for funding and only a portion of those applications were funded. They will receive more than $18,000 worth of materials and training!

 

CULTURE FAIR

            Thank you for your wonderful support of our two weeks of International Studies!! It was terrific to see so many of the children participate in the schoolwide parade. This year we had two Culture Fair Open Houses. Both were well attended! This was an engaging educational experience for the participants in our Culture Fair learning opportunities. We appreciate your support!

 

IOWA ASSESSMENTS TEST PREPARATION

SAVE THE DATE! APRIL 11^TH – APRIL 16^TH – APRIL 18^TH

            3^rd and 4^th grade students will be taking the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress, or ISASP, on April 11^th, 16^th, and 18^th. Both grades have already had guidance lessons on preparation, test anxiety, and motivation. Your encouragement of your students is greatly appreciated!

 

ISASP TEST TAKING TIPS:

• Get enough sleep.
• Eat a healthy breakfast.
• Read the directions carefully.
• Read the questions carefully.
• Always check your answers.
• Stay focused.
• Take your time.
• Most importantly — Do your BEST!

 

FROM THE MUSIC STUDIO

            Families – we have our spring music informances coming up next month! These are casual performances in our gym by grade level. Please mark your calendars; more information will be coming in the next couple of weeks!

Monday, May 6^th – Kindergarten at 6:00 p.m. & 1^st Grade at 6:45 p.m.

Thursday, May 9^th – 2^nd Grade 6:00 p.m. & 3^rd Grade at 6:45 p.m.

Thursday, May 16^th – 4^th Grade 6:00 p.m.

 

3^RD GRADE SPOTLIGHT ARTISTS

            Congratulations to these students who were showcased for their creativity, ability, and craftsmanship in art class!

CES READING GOAL

            As a school we have set a goal of 98.500 minutes in the month of April. So far, our school has read 21,801 minutes. We will have our school lunch outside on Monday, May 6^th if/when we reach our goal. Thank you for helping support this work!

 

ATTENDANCE

            If your student is going to be absent, will arrive late, or needs to leave early, please make sure to call the main office no later than 9 a.m. on the day of the absence, tardy or early dismissal.

Our attendance is currently 95.73%. We as a school have set a goal of 97%. Thank you for working with us to reach that goal, EVERY DAY matters.
